Global Rhythms will weave in a cast of around 700 members in a production that aims to bring in world music through the power of choir, orchestra, marching band, world percussion ensembles, celebrating the power of music and dance to kick off the Family Weekend.

The opening act at 7.00 PM will be outdoor and will feature Miami's Marching Band performing unique compositions under the direction of Steve Lytle and the artistic touch of Matt Savage. The audience walks into Hall Auditorium where the stage opens performances by several teams with a range of guests - to bring in music from Brazil, Bulgaria, Cuba, Egypt, India, to name a few. The presence of trombone virtuoso Robin Eubanks and world percussionist Jamey Haddad (who has worked with Paul Simon for over a decade), Maestro Made Asnawa (from Bali), Jason Koontz and Marianne McAdam (Brazilian music and dance out of EKU), Ila Paliwal (Indian Classical vocalist), Arjun Chandy (Music Arranger and Vocalist), Wisaal Middle Eastern Ensemble, snare drum virtuoso Jeff Queen, world percussionist Aaron Bishara will allow Global Rhythms to bring together the 80-member Choraliers directed by William Bausano, 90 member Symphony Orchestra directed by Ricardo Averbach, 100 member Collegiate Chorale and the 100 member Men's Glee Club directed by Jeremy Jones, the world percussion ensemble directed by Bill Albin, A Capella team Mergers under the direction of Laura Buchanan, and several other senior stars including Jaime Morales Matos (trombone), James Olcott (trumpet), James Lentini (guitar), Jeremy Long (saxophone), Chris Tanner (percussion) to name a few. The show aims to constantly weave in new artists from across the region and this year, assistance on arrangements have come in from Arjun Chandy, Nicholas Wright, Paul Sauter, Scott Padden, Stephanie Neumann, Hentry Kuruvilla, Saikumar Prabhakaran and Jerry Silvester Vincent. The director of Stage hands will be Kevin Kuethe, Sound designer will be Joey Wynn and Light Designer will be Christopher Smith.

The music this year will include compositions of various artists including AR Rahman, Sergio Mendez, and this year, Global Rhythms will feature works that have been designed by noted conductor and choir manager Michael Delchev (from Denmark). Fashion will continue to be focus this year with novel costumes and designs being showcased. At 6.30 PM, there will be food tasting (not dinner) that features one or two samples of Northern Indian cuisine that will be served to those members of the audience who have purchased tickets in advance. A portion of the ticket will be retained at the food counter at the time of food tasting (served between 6.30 PM and 7.15 PM only).

The show is directed by Miami Alum Srinivas Krishnan, Founder and Artistic Director of Global Rhythms who will be assisted by Sean O'Neill who will serve as the Chief Production Manager along with Jeff Queen and Jason Koontz who will serve as Creative Consultants.
