Fiction Reading by Ismet Prcic
Bosnian-American writer Ismet Prcic will give a public reading from his novel Shards, an account of survival and the aftermath of war. His visit this year coincides with the 20th anniversary of the start of the Bosnian war. Prcic emigrated from Bosnia in 1996; in 2010, he was awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, and Shards, his first novel, won the Sue Kaufman Prize for First Fiction, given by the American Academy of Arts and letters. The novel was also on Oprah's Must-Read List for March 2012.
