Lecture Series: #Voting: Social Media and the 2012 Election

Lecture Series: "#Voting: Social Media and the 2012 Election"
Becky Donatelli and Sam Graham-Felsen

Becki Donatelli, one of the seminal figures in American political and public affairs consulting, was the chief internet consultant to John McCain's two presidential races, directing the online campaigns that brought the Internet to the forefront of politics and public affairs.
In 2008, she raised an unprecedented $100 million online for McCain's campaign. She also managed the successful online fundraising efforts for Bush-Cheney '04, nearly all of the national GOP committees, and scores of Senate, House, and gubernatorial campaigns.

Sam Graham-Felsen is skilled in using technology to share information in new and innovative ways. As the chief blogger on the 2008 presidential campaign, his most important mission was to recognize the impact of ordinary people and help them organize through social media.
The BBC pronounced him the "key to [Obama's] victories." Much of the campaign's record-breaking achievements were thanks to the media team: they raised $500 million online; had an e-mail list of 13 million, generated 200,000 offline events created by supporters on my.BarackObama.com; and created one thousand videos on YouTube, which were viewed for over one billion minutes in total.
