Dr. Christin Schillinger is Assistant Professor of Bassoon at Miami University, Ohio. Prior to her current position, she was on faculty at the University of Nevada. Schillinger specializes in the accessibility of the avant-garde. Often pairing the neo-romantic with the post-tonal multi-phonic, she teaches from the concert stage and aims to broaden the audience for both new music and bassoon. She regularly lectures on and performs the music of living composers. Recent collaborative composers remarked upon her ???natural interpretation??? and ???perfect musical choices.???
Bassoon Surrounded, Schillinger???s 2009 CD released on the MSR Classics label, features works for bassoon and percussion. The CD includes five world premiere recordings and received critical acclaim from both Fanfare and American Record Guide Magazines.
Schillinger is active as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. Recent performances include the world premiere of Alexandre Ouzounoff???s Run for Ron at the 2012 International Double Reed Society Conference, the 2012 Women in Leadership Celebration (SSND ??? St. Louis), the Odyssey Chamber Music Festival and frequent national university master classes and recitals.
She is a regular performer at International Double Reed Society Conferences, of which she was a host, with colleague Andrea Ridilla, in 2012.
Beyond the concert stage, Schillinger researches the historic and current trends of reed making pedagogy. She believes the enhancement of the student experience creates better discipline, greater understanding, and stronger performance capabilities.
Schillinger received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Arizona State University, Master of Music from Michigan State University and Bachelor of Music in performance and music theory from Northwestern University. Her primary teachers include Dr. Jeffrey Lyman, Barrick Stees, Michael Kroth, and Robert Barris.
Jed Moss is a high-demand collaborative pianist and concert artist centered in the Salt Lake City region. He has multiple recording credits on the Albany, Summit, and Centaur labels as well as collaborative appearances with musicians from the nation???s top orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic. Moss is the resident pianist for Utah???s elite Ballet West where he is heard in solo performances throughout their season.
Moss???s flexibility as a pianist creates a versatility of performance venues. Moss appeared as a symphonic pianist with the Teton, Bear Lake and Deer Valley Music Festivals, and as a soloist throughout the United States as well as Uruguay. His solo performances with orchestra are consistently lauded by critics.
As a chamber pianist, he frequents the nation???s universities with the ???Sundance Trio.???
