Bill Keller: My Time at The Times

Bill Keller: My Time at The Times

Former New York Times Executive Editor Bill Keller will present "My Time at The Times"
Monday, Oct. 29, at 4 p.m. in Farmer School of Business Taylor Auditorium,

During his eight years at the helm of what is arguably the nation's most influential news organization, Keller directed a newsroom buffeted by economic challenge, endless new competition and ever-changing technology -- and produced the kind of journalism that garnered 18 Pulitzer Prizes.

A Times staffer since 1984, Mr. Keller earlier reported from Washington D.C., South Africa and the former Soviet Union. Before becoming executive editor in July 2003, he served as the paper's managing editor and foreign editor.

He resumed work as an Op-Ed columnist and New York Times Magazine writer in September 2011 after giving up the top job.

Keller won a Pulitzer Prize in 1989 for his coverage of the breakup of the Soviet Union and is the author of The Tree Shaker: The Story of Nelson Mandela.

Before joining The Times, Keller was a reporter for the Dallas Times Herald, Congressional Quarterly Weekly Report and the Portland Oregonian.
