A Trumpeter's Dream, Ronald and Avis Romm
Canadian Brass founding member Ronald Romm to be on campus for two days
Famed trumpeter Ronald Romm and his wife and pianist Avis will be guests of the Miami University Department of Music for two days, when they will give masterclasses on performance collaboration and a major recital.
Invited by MU trumpet professor James Olcott, the two will be on campus Monday and Tuesday, November 5-6, performing in Souers Recital Hall in the school's Center for the Performing Arts. The major masterclass will take place from 3 to 5 pm and will highlight the two working with five soloist/pianist combinations ranging from double piano to cello/piano to trumpet/piano and cello/piano duos.
A spectacular player who has appeared worldwide on the stages of most major concert venues, music festivals, and international music conferences, Mr. Romm is widely acknowledged as one of the pre-eminent trumpeters and clinicians of today. Since his retirement from the Canadian Brass in 2000 he and his wife present duo recitals and special pops shows with symphony orchestras as the Ronald and Avis Romm Trumpet and Piano Duo. He is also professor of trumpet at the University of Illinois.
