Alice Dreger "Why Not Change Minds Instead of Bodies?"

Dr. Alice Dreger, Professor of Clinical Medical Humanities and Bioethics at Northwestern University???s Feinberg School of Medicine, will deliver a talk entitled "Why Not Change Minds Instead of Bodies?" based on her research and activism on behalf of patients, especially patients with what are considered abnormal bodies. Dr. Dreger has published widely on intersex conditions, sex testing in sports, and conjoined twins. In addition to her many books, including Hermaphrodites and the Medical Invention of Sex, she frequently writes for mainstream publications, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post. She writes a regular blog for the Atlantic and a featured blog for Psychology Today. In 2011, Utne Magazine named her a "visionary" for her social justice work in medicine and science. For seven years, she served as the co-director of the Intersex Society of North America.
