Hear about Miami's New Academic Year Calendar, including the new Winter Term, which begins in 2013-2014, at UPAC's next Networking Lunch at noon Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, in Harris Dining Hall. Guest speaker will be Dave Sauter, Miami's University Registrar.

In September, Miami trustees approved adding an academic term of approximately three and a half weeks to the university's calendar starting with the 2013-2014 academic year. The Winter Term, a fourth academic term, will provide opportunities to enrich students' academic experiences, which include, but are not limited to: studying abroad, conducting research, completing an internship, or taking an additional on-campus or online courses through any of Miami University's campuses and sites.

Adding the new Winter Term will move Miami from a 16-week academic calendar to a 15-week format with classes beginning Aug. 26, 2013, and ending May 10, 2014. The 2014 winter session would take place Jan. 2-25, 2014.

Dave Sauter will discuss what this new Winter Term opportunity means for students and faculty and staff as well as the overall academic calendar. There will be time for questions.

Dave is a 1977 Miami graduate who earned a master's in personnel services and counseling at Miami in 1982. He has served as Miami's University Registrar since 2006.
