Symposium "The Steppes: Crucible of Eurasia"

"The Steppes: Crucible of Eurasia"


Join scholars from around the world in the fields of history, archeology and art history for discussions on different stepp regions and time periods, from the Bronze Age through the era of the Turkic empires.

This unique international event is intended to foster a lively exchange of views on current problems such as pastoral land use and technology, state formation, social history and cultural exchange.

The symposium is in conjunction with the Miami University Art Museum exhibition "Grass Routes: Pathways to Eurasian Cultures" which runs through Dec. 8.

Speakers include Trudi Kawami, Director of Research for the Arthur M. Sackler Foundation, and Sergey Minyaev of the Russian Academy of Sciences, among many others.


The symposium is free and open to all, Participants may attend as many or few sessions as they wish.
