Angie Cruz lecture: "The Story Behind the Novel"


"The Story Behind the Novel": A talk by Angie Cruz,Latina novelist and Assistant Professor of English at the University of Pittsburgh.

Born in Washington Heights, New York City, Angie Cruz has traveled back and forth regularly between the US and the Dominican Republic, the land of her parents. Her writing reflects her situation as a second generation Latina/Dominicana in the US. Cruz is the author of two novels, Let It Rain Coffee and Soledad, which have received widespread critical acclaim and she is currently at work on a third novel. She is also the author of four children's books. In addition to her writing, Cruz has been active in organizing Latina writers in the New York City metropolitan area as a way of building community and sharing creativity.
